About Ruby

Ruby Jude Gerrish (she/her), Psychologist

Master of Clinical Psychology, BPsySc (Hons)

I am a psychologist and clinical psychology registrar who provides therapy to adults (18+) from a private practice in Paddington, Meanjin/Brisbane. I hold a Master of Clinical Psychology from Queensland University of Technology, and a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Hons) from the University of Queensland.

In addition to private practice, I have experience in diverse settings including child and youth mental health and a community health service focused on holistic wellbeing and trauma recovery.

My Approach

I value curiosity and compassion, and aim to create a space that is collaborative, respectful, and supportive. I work from a person-centred perspective and prioritise building a connection that fosters a sense of trust and openness.

My primary approach is informed by psychodynamic psychotherapy — exploring how past experiences, often outside of our conscious awareness, shape the way we think, feel, and relate in the present. This approach supports you to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, creating the space and awareness needed to make more conscious choices and meaningful changes in your life.

I also draw on other evidence-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) when they’re a good fit. Every person is different, so I tailor our work together to suit your needs, pace, and goals.

My Interest Areas:

    • Trauma recovery- developmental trauma and PTSD
    • Relationship difficulties
    • Identity and self-esteem
    • Adjustment concerns
    • Anxiety and OCD
    • Mood and emotional wellbeing
